From beginner to expert, all social classes and ages we employ a hands on teaching approach that provides guests with the knowledge skills and techniques to foster a lifelong passion for the sport of fly fishing. Since our inception, our award winning instructors have helped thousands of students along their fly fishing journey while creating lifelong friends that embody the JHFFS family.

Brian Shott
OWNER
Originally from Philadelphia, Brian started fishing at a young age on local ponds and creeks throughout Pennsylvania. After making a summer trip out west in high school, he was introduced to the sport of fly fishing and never looked back. His passion for fly fishing continued to grow while attending the University of Rhode Island, chasing striped bass, bluefish, and false albacore. After graduating, Brian headed straight for Jackson to pursue his dream of working in the mountains. Getting his start as the Fishing Lead for Orvis, Brian began to develop relationships with many local guides and outfitters. Through these relationships, he attended the Western Rivers Guide School and began his guiding career. Since then, Brian has found a home with Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School, forever grateful for his mentor and JHFFS Founder Spencer Morton. Brian is proud to be part of an amazing team that works hard to share their passion with every guest and has proven to be one of the top instructional guides in Jackson Hole having been awarded both bronze (2021) and silver (2022/2025) as best fishing guide through Jackson’s Best of JH contest. Brian believes greatly in the importance of conservation, leading by example as an active board member of Jackson Hole’s Trout Unlimited chapter. Brian’s effective communication and humble demeanor has created many lifelong friends from the guests he has had the pleasure of instructing

Skyler Webb
HEAD INSTRUCTOR
Born on the Oregon coast and raised throughout the Pacific Northwest, Skyler’s connection with the outdoors began in early childhood. His curiosity and enthusiasm were nurtured by his father, Dan, and grandfather, Fred, both avid outdoorsmen. Nothing seemed more enjoyable to him than exploring creeks and rivers with a dog by his side. Although Skyler didn’t join JHFFS until 2021, the time he spent exploring the waters of Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana with his trusty Labrador Retriever, Murphy, was crucial to his development as an angler.
Skyler specializes in backcountry wade trips on smaller streams and rivers in the surrounding area. His extensive knowledge of stream-based ecosystems, combined with an efficient instructional style focused on solidifying fundamentals, has resulted in countless satisfied guests who leave with a new or renewed appreciation for fly fishing and conservation.
As an active board member for the Star Valley chapter of Trout Unlimited, Skyler dedicates his free time to improving local fisheries. He still spends most of his days off on the water, whether fishing with his fiancée, Natalee, or wandering along a riverbank with Murphy, who remains as enthusiastic as ever to fish by Skyler’s side
